Former Miss Ireland and Clonmel native Andrea Roche brought a touch of glamour to her home town on Thursday 12th November when she switched on the Christmas lights at the new Showgrounds Shopping Centre. Andrea was joined by another famousTipperary native - Today FM Sports Correspondent Paul Collins.
Crowds turned up at The Showgrounds at 6pm to meet Andrea and Paul and witness them switching on the Christmas lights. Following the event guests were then invited to attend the opening of award winning hair salon Hype Hair in the centre.
Renowned Waterford hair salon Hype Hair has chosen The Showgrounds, Clonmel as the location for its third store. At the Hype Hair launch party guests were shown a demonstration of makeovers and one lucky winner on the night went home with a €150 Hype Hair makeover voucher. Hype was voted the Best irish Designed Salon at the Schwarzkopf irish Hairdressing Awards in 2009 and was recognised amongst the top five salons in Munster and the top 20 in the country. Offering the latest in mens and womens hair fashions, the salon will also be introducing a first for the Clonmel area – the 12 week blowdry. This new treatment is causing a sensation since it was launched recently in Dublin and no doubt there will be huge demand for it in the Tipperary area.
The Christmas lights at The Showgrounds include a display of classy white lights that create a curtain effect on the entrance windows to the centre and a series of elegant white lights draped throughout the exterior and interior of the centre providing a lovely festive atmostphere on Davis Road. Following on from this event there was family fun all weekend with face painters, balloon modelling and a host of other activities. A great way to kick off the festive period before the excitement of Santa arriving on December 4th at 6pm.
