📣Important Announcement 📣

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Argos in the Showgrounds Shopping Centre today, 24th June 2023. Since its opening on 5th March 2011, Argos Extra has been an integral part of our community and a go-to store for the people of Clonmel.

Sadly, all Argos stores and online operations in the Republic of Ireland will cease by 5 pm today. The decision comes from Argos's recent statement: "We have made the difficult decision to close our Argos stores and online operations in the Republic of Ireland by 24 June 2023. Our stores will close on 24 June at 5 pm and our Click and Collect service will stop taking reservations on 22 June at 5 pm. Items can still be purchased in-store up until stores close. Our home delivery service is no longer available, and we have stopped selling some larger products in stores."

We want to remind everyone to use any unspent Argos gift cards in store before the closure today.

Argos Extra has been more than just a store; it's been a part of our community and our lives. While we are sad to say goodbye, we want to express our deep gratitude to the dedicated staff and the loyal customers who made Argos Extra a memorable part of Showgrounds Shopping Centre.

A special mention to Des, Sakeena, and all the team at Argos Clonmel for their unwavering dedication and hard work over the years. We wish you all the very best in your future endeavours. You have been an integral part of our family here in the Showgrounds Shopping Centre.

We're thrilled to share an exciting development at Showgrounds Shopping Centre that has been long-awaited: the completion of our new ramp refurbishment. This significant project, which we embarked upon last year, involved intricate planning, collaboration, and the resilience to overcome a few bumps, quite literally!
The ramp leading up to the first-floor car park had developed lumps and inconsistencies over time. These obstacles had become a significant hindrance to smooth and safe navigation for our patrons. Therefore, we prioritised this refurbishment as a crucial infrastructure project.
Thanks to the expertise and efforts of Brendan and his team from BOBF based in Clonmel and Shane and his team from  Kelly Flooring, the project was successfully undertaken and executed with excellent results. The task involved removing the uneven layer of asphalt that was causing the issues. Following this, a new, waterproof layer was applied to the existing structure, ensuring a smooth, resilient surface that can withstand both vehicular traffic and Irish weather conditions.
A project of this magnitude required precise planning, and we want to acknowledge the patience and cooperation of all our customers  during this time. We managed to keep the ramp partially operational, implementing a one-way traffic system throughout the refurbishment period. This meant that while one side of the ramp was being worked on, the other side remained functional, thereby minimising disruption.
The first phase, the refurbishment of the ascending side, was completed in September 2022. We then had to wait for a spell of good weather, a challenge in Ireland, to proceed with the second phase. Finally, as the sun decided to grace us more frequently, we seized the opportunity and completed the descending side in May 2023.
We're thrilled to report that the new ramp is now fully operational, providing a smoother and safer driving experience for all our customers. Our sincere gratitude goes to the dedicated teams at BOBF Clonmel and Kelly Flooring, whose hard work and commitment to quality ensured a successful completion of the refurbishment.

Yi Thai Restaurant will be opening soon. The Thai Restaurant will be located in Unit 2 adjacent to Costa Coffee.  The Thai Restaurant will operate as a sit in and a takeaway. The owners are making their finishing touches to the restaurant and will announce this month when the restaurant is due to open. Watch this space. 

Stylebar the Blowdry and Brow Bar will be opening in the Showgrounds on Tuesday the 15th November and they will take up residency in our salon unit which is ladies 7. ​We are delighted to announce that Bakers & Baristas , Costa Coffee and Shake Dog are reopening their indoor dining today for people who are fully vaccinated as well as children under 18 in their care. The government have asked coffee shops and restaurants to implement specific safety measures in order to ensure a safe environment for both the employees and customers. A publication of these measures can be found at www.gov.ie.
What is required to dine or drink indoors?
1) All adults need proof that they gave been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have recovered from the virus in the past six months. The Digital Co-vid Cert will be the primary evidence for proof of immunity.
2) Proof of ID (such as a passport or driving licence) will also be necessary to present along side your vaccination cert.
3) Contact tracing details will be taken but only one person in the group needs to give them. These will be retained for 28 days by businesses and must be compliant with GDPR.
4) There will be no time limit on tables.
5) Face coverings must be worn at all times other than when seated at your table.
6) A maximum of six people over the aged of 13 are permitted at a table. This limit of six does not include accompanying children aged 12 or younger. A total combined capacity must not exceed 15 overall.
We ask that all customers remain patient while the businesses get to grips with these new measures.
